Staying Green on St. Patrick's Day

As St. Patrick’s Day approaches and we think of the color green I would like us to keep in mind that it is important to be green on the inside of our bodies too. Wearing the color green is tradition for many people however staying green in our environment would also be helpful and this includes using environmental friendly cleaners and chemicals in our yard and home.  Let’s try to maintain a healthy and happy beautiful green ecosystem.

Here is a healthier green recipe to enjoy.

Roasted Asparagus with Parmesan Cheese

Ingredients:

2 Tbsp. olive oil

1 bunch of asparagus with ends trimmed

¼ cup of Parmesan cheese or nutritional yeast flakes

¼ tsp. garlic powder

Sea salt and black pepper or a pinch of cayenne pepper to taste

Directions: Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Wash and trim ends of asparagus.  Coat asparagus with olive oil and stir to evenly distribute.  Mix Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt and pepper together in a separate bowl.  Sprinkle over asparagus and stir to evenly distribute.  Bake for 10 – 15 minutes checking for even browning and pricking with a fork to test that it is not too soft.
