Perfect Smoothie Guide

Have you ever wondered how to make the perfect smoothie?  Here is a guide to do just that.  The first thing needed is a good blender, Vitamix, Bullet or Ninja blender.  The next step would be to choose a liquid base that works for your recipe; this may consist of 1 cup of water, tea or milk (almond, cashew, coconut, cow’s milk, hemp or soy).

Choosing a good protein powder is the next step.  There are different kinds of protein powder such as whey, collagen hydrolysate protein, rice, pea, hemp, egg and others however the taste should be a key reason for making a selection. Adding ½ cup vegetables and/or ¼ cup fruit is an excellent component to any smoothie.  Some great vegetables include spinach, kale, power greens or cucumber.  Some fruit sources include berries, mango, papaya or banana.  A healthy fat can be added to the shake and may include 1 Tbsp. of flax, hemp, chia seeds or 1 Tbsp. nut butter or ¼ of an avocado.  Ice cubes should be the last item on the list to be added to make the perfect shake.  Please feel free to experiment and enjoy the shake recipe below.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Shake

Ingredients:

1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

1 scoop Cellucor peanut butter and marshmallow whey protein

1 handful fresh spinach or ½ cup frozen spinach leaves

¼ cup blueberries

1 Tbsp. natural peanut butter (no salt or sugar added)

5 – 7 ice cubes

Directions: Blend and enjoy.
