4 Low Impact Cardio Exercises to Burn Calories

Most people often dread cardio exercise even with all of its reported benefits because of aching joints, sore knees and back problems.  Cardiovascular exercise does not have to be strenuous as in the case of running or jogging.   There are lower impact exercises that can still burn calories.  Here are some alternatives:

Walking – This is always the best form of exercise and can be performed at a comfortable pace or briskly depending on cardiovascular health.

Rebounding – A rebounder is a mini-trampoline and can be used by children, adults and seniors.   Jumping or bouncing for health has many benefits including stimulating the lymphatic system by removing toxins from the body including the brain.  This promotes better mental clarity and reduces stress.  It also aids the excretory organs in the process of elimination.

Swimming – Now that summer is almost here, this exercise should be enjoyed by all.  Swimming is very friendly to the joints, cardiovascular system and promotes overall toning and strengthening of the body.

Cycling – This activity can be performed at the gym, outdoors or at home on a stationary bike or by using a bike trainer attached to a bicycle.  This is also friendly to the joints and can be done at an even pace or taken up a notch for a high intensity workout.
